Bamboo Site - Species Suitability Matching Study in Ethiopia
Bamboo is a woody perennial plant that occurs naturally in tropical and subtropical belt and is
commonly found in Africa, Asia, Central and South America (Lobovikov et al., 2007). Ethiopia
is one of the countries in Eastern Africa that possess considerable bamboo resources (Kelbessa et
al., 2000). Although the presence of versatile resource base and advanced bamboo utilization at a
global scale, its great potential to enhance socio-economic and ecological development of the
country remains unrealized
