Assessing Ethiopia’s capacity to participate in the Future Earth Initiative

On 26th January 2017, UNESCO and Ethiopia’s Environment and Forest research Institute (EEFRI) organised a workshop in Addis Ababa aimed at assessing Ethiopia’s capacity to participate in the Future Earth Initiative. This workshop is part of the ongoing 3-year “Future Earth Capacity Program” financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) which aims at building and mobilizing the necessary scientific and research capacity in Bolivia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.

Representation of African Countries is a key issue for the Future Earth Initiative, as the continent is considered a priority regarding climate change challenges and an opportunity for sharing of scientific Local and Indigenous Knowledge for sustainable development.
